Day 1:
What words would you expect to see in a pamphlet that tells about animals in danger
and what people can do to save them?
1. Make an idea web of 10 words related to saving endangered animals.

Day 2:
What needs do pets have? What needs do wild animals have? How can you assure that all animals have what they need?
- Compare the needs of domestic and wild animals.
- Use a Venn diagram or other graphic organizer to compare and contrast the
Needs and how the needs are met.

Day 3:
How can an analysis of an author’s use of persuasion help you or someone else become a better writer?
- Locate examples of persuasion and write six questions you would like to ask the author.
- Your questions should focus on three categories: the author’s reason for writing, the author’s opinion and choice of facts, and the author’s use of persuasion.
- Put a star next to the question you would use to guide your own writing.
Day 4:
How are literary genres about animals alike and different?
- Compare two selections about animals from two different genres such as
expository nonfiction, realistic fiction, mythology, and poetry.
- Use a Venn diagram or other graphic organizer to compare and contrast ways the
two genres are alike and different.

Day 5:
Which animals migrate and why do they migrate?
- Find four animals that migrate.
- Collect facts about when they migrate and where.
- Choose one animal and tell about that animal’s migration from the animal’s point of view. You can draw maps with labels to identify the route of the migration.
